Our governance

Corporate governance encompasses the system by which an organisation is controlled and operates, and the mechanisms by which it, and its people, are held to account.

SAFAA is governed by a representative board. The composition of the Board is determined by SAFAA’s Constitution as follows:

  • Two members of the Board may be appointed by the Board after taking account of the recommendations of the Nominations Committee; and
  • Up to two members of the Board shall be elected by Practitioner Members provided that each Board member elect obtains a minimum number of votes equivalent to 5% of the total number of Practitioner Members eligible to vote; and
  • The remainder of the Board shall be comprised of members elected by Principal Members; and
  • The person appointed by the Board as the Managing Director shall be a Director and shall hold office in accordance with the terms of such appointment.
