DTR Refresher courses

For those who have completed the SIAA DTR accreditation and/or are included on the SIAA DTR Register and wish to brush up on recent changes to the Market Integrity Rules (MIR), SIAA’s DTR Refresher courses are ideal. Both courses are:

• offered at a 40% discount ($415 instead of $690)
• include the exam (also updated), but not an oral assessment (this remains mandatory for those undertaking the SIAA DTR accreditation)
• have the recent changes to the MIR highlighted so that existing DTRs can spot them quickly, while also renewing their knowledge of the MIR overall
• sent a CPD Certificate upon completion of the refresher course.

There are two National DTR Refresher courses available:

1. DTR Refresher — Cash Equities
2. DTR Refresher — Derivatives

Learning outcomes

The authorisation and conduct of DTRs is regulated in part by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) via the MIR. DTRs must also comply with the Operating Rules and Procedures of the market whose trading platform they are submitting messages into.

The refresher courses highlight key changes to:

• ASIC Market Integrity Rules (Securities Markets) 2017
• ASX Operating Rules and Procedures, and
• Cboe Operating Rules and Procedures.

Who should complete the course?

Qualified DTRs who would like to brush up on changes to the MIR and in particular changes to ASX and CBoe Operating Rules and Procedures.

It is a requirement that you have either completed the SIAA DTR accreditation and/or are included on the SIAA DTR Register in order to undertake the role of DTR. 

Is there any assumed pre-requisite knowledge?

You must be a qualified DTR to undertake one of both of the refresher courses.

How does the process work?

Courses are administered by the Stockbrokers and Investment Advisers Association (SIAA). Enrolments close at 3.00pm every Monday Sydney time.

• Complete this online form.
• Upon verification of credentials SIAA will issue an invoice of $415 per course.
• Upon receipt of payment you will be enrolled.
• Welcome emails from SIAA are issued on Tuesday with course information/study materials.
• Candidate completes and returns ‘Exam Booking Form’ to schedule their exam day/time. This must be done at least three days prior to exam.
• SIAA releases exam/closes exam at designated day/time.
• The Candidate’s approved Supervisor supervises the exam and returns the ‘Declaration by Online Exam Supervisor’ to SIAA. Results will not be released until SIAA has received the completed ‘Declaration by Online Exam Supervisor’.
• Candidate receives result (results are released within one working day). Candidate receives Certificate (Certificates are issued end of each month).

National DTR Cash Equities Refresher

1 x Online Exam (Closed book, 50 questions, 2 hours and 15 minutes, 80% pass mark).

National DTR Derivatives Accreditation (DTR Derivatives)

1 x Online Exam (Closed book, 50 questions, 2 hours and 15 minutes, 80% pass mark). 

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
